About This Spot

Stepping into Hao Szechuan on Albany Highway in Beckenham feels like uncovering a vibrant corner of Sichuan’s spirited culinary world, tucked quietly within a familiar suburban strip. The space hums with a steady, unhurried energy — a welcoming refuge where the warmth of hotpot steam mingles with the fresh spice notes that tease the senses. This is a spot made for friends and families to gather, linger, and share stories as much as dishes.

The room carries a lived-in comfort, with booths and private rooms where conversations rise above the clatter of woks and simmering pots. It’s a place that invites patience and curiosity, where every simmering broth and fiery sauce unfolds with layers of flavor. There’s an unmistakable communal rhythm here: the clinking of chopsticks, the occasional burst of laughter, and the gentle sizzle from the induction cookers that bring each hotpot experience to life.

Eating here is less about following a menu and more about embracing an exploration of Sichuan's rich textures and tastes. Picture gathering around a bubbling pot, spotting bright red chillies swirling with fresh mushrooms or tender lamb, balancing with cool cucumber salad and the intriguing combination of preserved egg and tofu. The dishes, bold yet measured, can carry a comforting heat that resonates perfectly on cooler evenings.

The experience is punctuated by attentive service that, while at times quietly reserved, underscores a genuine care for the food and the moments it creates. Those who return speak often of the place becoming a go-to for sharing authentic flavors and for the simple joy of enjoying hearty, thoughtfully prepared meals in good company.

For anyone seeking a down-to-earth immersion in Sichuan cuisine away from the usual crowd, Hao Szechuan offers a sincere and richly layered encounter — a local spot where the food’s warmth matches the easy camaraderie that fills the room.

Very amazing hotpot restaurant, one of my favourites. Definitely worth a try

The set meals with cray fish and hotpot meat is perfect for the private room with karaoke! Minimum spend of private room is $300 and the set is $339. But for 8 of us it’s not quite enough, so we had to order extra food. But unlimited karaoke till they close was good! The one we were in, one of the induction cooker didn’t work. So it was a bummer that one of our friend had to cook and eat separately… no discount was given for this either.

Food are amazing! Tasty and fairly big portion. If you like spicy food, this is the place you don't want to miss. Lovely to dine in during cold weather. Attentive service from them.

Best Szechuan restaurant in Perth. Very glad my partner took me here. Food is very good. Flavoursome and reasonably priced. Slowly becoming a regular after only recently discovering it!

This place is not english friendly. We arrived and was seated. We waited to be served but no one came to take our order. The staff didn't explain how it all works and they were afraid to talk to us. We had to ask a random customer to guide us through the process. The staff need better training in English and in confidence for customer service. The food is insanely good and well priced though. Get the clams, they are amazing!

I recently discovered a hidden gem of a restaurant within walking distance from my home, and it's become one of my favorite finds. Despite its tucked-away location in a corner along a one-way road, it's worth the effort to locate. The cuisine is exceptional, boasting delightful Sichuan flavors that have left a lasting impression. It's an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic culinary experience.
